A Modern Guide to Heroism and Sidekickery

A Modern Guide to Heroism and Sidekickery
Fringe World. Directed by Michelle Zahner. The Gold Digger, Fringe Central, Northbridge, WA. Feb 16-25, 2018

A Modern Guide to Heroism and Sidekickeryis a gorgeously told story about an accidental super hero, the side kick who makes her famous and a narrator called Michelle - who as the creator of this show, is a bit of a super hero herself.

A lovely little tale, brought to us from Britain, it contains uplifting messages, lots of hope and is just good, clean, wholesome fun. Solo performer Michelle Zahner has a lovely presence and plays multiple characters with minimal fuss and great clarity. An animated storyteller, Michelle uses shadow puppets, poems, physical theatre, comedy and some (very safe) audience participation, and a good time is had by all. The show also features lighting operator Reagan, who is my vote for Most Valuable Techie for Fringe World.

We are left with a call to make a difference in our own lives - and a take home reminder to help us on our way.

This family friendly, silly but significant little show deserves bigger audiences. Well worth getting to Fringe earlier in the evening to catch this one.
