Not The Messiah [He’s A Very Naughty Boy]

Not The Messiah [He’s A Very Naughty Boy]
By Eric Idle and John Duprez. Spotlight Theatre, Benowa, Gold Coast. 3-18 August, 2018.

This is the Queensland Premiere of Monty Python’s comic oratorio, based on the Life Of Brian, and for Monty Python devotees and it’s one not to be missed!

The creative team of Director Tony Alcock, Musical Director Matt Pearson and Choreographer Erin Brummage has obviously had a ball preparing this production with an on-stage orchestra of over thirty musicians and nearly as many singers.

Full of hysterical “Monty Moments”, the show is a winner from the start and the six soloists: Carla Beard, Chris Drummond, Alison Murray, Aiden Ossovani, Anthony Restaino and Russell White combine to make the performance a memorable experience.

On Opening Night the audience joined in the singing of “Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life” and gave the show a well deserved standing ovation.

To quote the programme notes: “It’s almost 50 years since the original film was released” – back then it was banned in a number of cities around the world; whereas others welcomed it and now it has developed its own cult  status.

‘He’s Not the Messiah....He’s a Very Naughty Boy!  Now Go Away!’
