The Obscure Tour

The Obscure Tour
Pedroland. The Navy Club, Fremantle WA and surrounding area. Jan 27 - Feb 15, 2018

A few years ago I was discussing the television show Amazing Race in theatrical company, and it was noted that the Amazing Race was extremely popular amongst “theatre people”. Various theories were tossed around as to the reason for the correlation. Based on that discussion, I might suggest that readers of Stage Whispers are very likely to love The Obscure Tour.

The Obscure Tour, produced by Pedroland for Fringe World, draws much from Amazing Race. Small groups (don’t worry if you are alone, they’ll find you a friend), follow clues to varoius locations around Fremantle. You may be required to find a clue box or you may need to complete a task in order to receive the next clue. The tasks are decidedly more theatrical than the television inspiration and there is something for everyone in the challenges given. There are lots of laughs and a good deal of fun.

The tour is a wonderful way to discover hidden parts of Fremantle, play some very strange games and perhaps discover a little more about yourself. While the distance travelled is not great, you may struggle if you find stairs difficult, and while most of the challenges are indoors or in the shade, I would recommend bringing a hat and applying sun-screen.

The tour ends with everyone meeting at a final location for a final secret challenge, a really good cup of tea and some prizes…of sorts.

The Obscure Tour is a wonderfully different way to spend a Saturday morning and a lovely way to vary your Fringe World Diet. Great presenters and a fabulous concept.
