Obsession

Obsession
Written and Directed by Kellie Silver. Javeenbah Theatre, Nerang, Gold Coast. 17TH November to 2nd December, 2017

Obsession is the creation of local playwright and author Kellie Silver - an interesting story, full of twists and intrigue and an old violin.

A young married couple move into a house that has been in the family for a very long time. The previous occupant was the wife’s grandfather and is very much a “fixer upper”.

As the young couple, Lily (Francesca Spear) and Tom (Adam Hellier), set about restoring the property to its former glory, they are constantly interrupted by both their mothers Helen (Virginia Lever) and Fiona (Linda Furse), who don’t really get along, and Tom’s dad Brian (Bob Allen).

With a wonderfully dilapidated set, complete with faulty plumbing and wiring and temporary furniture, the couple endeavour to renovate amid the chaos of all the abovementioned problems.

Kellie’s play is full of mirth and surprises and works well on the Javeenbah stage. The technical support to the story is effective.

An entertaining conclusion to Javeenbah’s 2017 season.
