Piece of Cake

Piece of Cake
The Kransky Sisters. Palms at the Crown. Melbourne International Comedy Festival. March 27 – April 18, 2015

The Kransky Sisters are a unique part of Australian entertainment landscape and the mention of their name raises some intriguing questions - How did this supergroup from Esk, Queensland come by their prodigious musical talent? What is the true nature of the relationship between Dawn, Ava, Mourn and Eve? Why did they choose a career over husbands and what happened to the Kransky Brothers?

In “Piece of Cake” the Kransky Sisters share their Esk-centric view of life and punctuate their life story with their own special interpretations of the songs they learnt from the wireless. A lack of real musical instruments simply required them to make their own from whatever was at hand. It takes a real talent to perform classics such as Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” with only a tuba and tambourines, and their voices work beautifully together (as sisters often do…).

Their homespun philosophies and unique music are like a glimpse into the world of your crazy maiden aunts who are sniffing the icing sugar.  If you like what you see on their frequent television guest spots then you will love them live.
