Triage! A Nursing Cabaret

Triage! A Nursing Cabaret
Written and performed by Zuleika Khan. Directed by Sally Bourne. Bok Choy Ballroom, The Noodle Palace, Fringe World, Perth WA. Feb 4-19, 2017

The sold-out audience at Triage! A Nursing Cabaret find themselves in the packed-to-the-brim Emergency Room at The Noodle Palace Community Hospital. Presided over by Division One Registered Nurse Züle, you have never had this much fun in hospital.

Zuleika Khan is a very qualified Division One Registered Nurse from a medical family. She is clearly a passionate, motivated, medical professional, but is also an outstanding singer, clever comedian and brilliant raconteur, who charms her audience in an excellent performance. Perth audiences may recognise her from her appearance as Gary Coleman in the Australian Tour of Avenue Q, but Züle has obviously been alternating between her love of performing and nursing for some time.

This is a cabaret that is beautifully nuanced and gorgeously paced. With a mix of campy parodies (‘Fever’ is a delight - and is vocally stunning) through to the very emotionally charged ‘Euthanasia Song’, an original work with a heartbreaking story, this show moves smoothly, with an excellent mix, of story, character, comedy and song.

Although the audience was about 95% nurses and is a lovely tribute, thank-you and shout-out to hardworking nurses everywhere, this show would appeal to almost anyone.

This is a show where it is getting tough to get a ticket, but do your best to get in to see this highly polished, little gem of a cabaret.
