Zalobardi

Zalobardi

Overport Primary School in Frankston (VIC) has a long history of performing whole school musicals. At each annual show more than 400 children take to the stage at the Frankston Arts Centre to perform for parents and friends. Year six students look forward to auditioning for major roles and go through a series of callbacks until the main cast is selected. Other senior students work backstage as crew and lighting assistants, operating follow spots and learning about the technical aspects of theatre. The rest of the students make up the large chorus numbers, singing and dancing their way through a huge variety of musical styles. Preparation for the shows becomes the focus of our performing arts program for a full term. One of our greatest highlights was performing the 'world premiere' of Zalobardi, a tropical adventure of epic proportions, written by Cheeky Possum Musicals. This was our third musical from the writers at Cheeky Possum, and our best yet. The humour, brilliant music and dazzling costumes had the audiences enthralled.
