Catherine Alcorn Is Crowdfunding Debut Album

Catherine Alcorn (The Divine Miss Bette, Go Your Own Way: The Story of Christine McVie and Nothing But a Song) is creating a compilation album featuring rearrangements from each production and is calling on fans to help fund the project.

Since launching a crowdfunding campaign through IndieGoGo, Catherine has raised more than 40 per cent of her target in less than a week and has received pledges from all around the world. Her campaign offers supporters a variety of ‘perks’ in return for their pledge and $1 from every CD sale will be donated to White Ribbon – Australia’s campaign to stop violence against women.

Catherine is thrilled to be reaching out to people who share a passion for what she’s creating.

“This album is something I've wanted to create for a long time. I wanted it to reflect everything my creative team and I have poured our souls into. I've had to be patient!" Catherine said.

"An album used to be something you could only do if you were signed to a label. It's different now. Crowdfunding has enabled artists and creatives to work independently. There's a certain pride that comes with that. We can achieve anything now. It's liberating.”

“The support so far has been incredible and I’m overwhelmed by the generosity of longtime fans and strangers alike. Donating to White Ribbon is my way of giving back and supporting a cause I feel strongly about," she said.

Trained classically by Steve Ostrow, the man who discovered Bette Midler, Catherine is an award-winning actor, singer and producer based in Sydney. In 2010 she made the decision to give showbiz a real crack and launched her hugely popular show The Divine Miss Bette - the hilarious cabaret based on Bette Midler. Since then Catherine has gone on to tour nationally and internationally and has appeared and headlined at some of Australia’s leading festivals.

Catherine’s album “A Real Character” will be a compilation of her work featuring rearrangements by her long time collaborators Isaac Hayward and Andrew Worboys of rock and pop legends including Nirvana, Chris Isaac, Christine McVie, The Waifs and Bette Midler.
