Legally Blonde $30 Ticket Lottery Continues
The producers of the hit musical Legally Blonde have announced that the popular Lottery for cheap tickets will continue until the end of the Sydney season. Thirty good seats – specially priced at $30 – are held in reserve for the Legally Blonde Lottery at every show. Fans who arrive at the Sydney Lyric Theatre box office two hours ahead of every performance can enter the ballot. Their names are collected and placed in a barrel. The winners are drawn half an hour later and their names called. The winners must be at the draw and have valid photo ID. The winning tickets cost them just $30 and they can buy two, for themselves and a friend.
“The Lottery is a great way for people to see Legally Blonde if for some reason they can’t book ahead,” says Co-Producers Howard Panter and John Frost. “They may be visitors from interstate or overseas and in Sydney for just a day or two, and haven’t booked ahead. Tourists are often among the ballot entries at the Lyric’s box office.
“Students and young people love the idea of the Lottery. On impulse they turn up at the box office hoping to buy seats and find there’s the chance of getting affordable seats at the next performance. And if their names aren’t drawn they can come back as often as they like. Eventually, they calculate, they’ll get in and have the most Blonde fun, legally!”
Following every performance, crowds of fans, sometimes 100 deep, head to the stage door to meet the stars, get their autographs and have photos taken. Many of these fans have returned to see the show three or four times so far, taking advantage of the $30 Lottery ticket offer.
Based on the hit movie of the same name starring Reese Witherspoon, Legally Blonde The Musical has taken the world by storm. Winner of seven major awards including the coveted Best New Musical 2011 (Olivier Awards®) this all dancing, romantic comedy is about knowing who you are and showing what you’ve got!
