Around Australia, Beehive hairdos promise to be all the fashion, with Hairspray The Musical looking like the most popular new release on the community / amateur musical theatre scene. Less than a year after the professional season shuttered in Sydney, the show, which only played professionally in Sydney and Melbourne, is popping up all over the country.
On 17 January 1912 Captain Robert Scott and his team arrived at the South Pole. Sydney's Genesian Theatre will celebrate the occasion by present Ted Tally's Terra Nova, a play about Scott's ill-fated mission, based on the letters that Scott and his wife wrote, but never saw.
The judges couldn’t split two great productions when it came to choosing Production of the Year at the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria Bruce Awards for Excellence 2011, presented at Frankston Arts Centre on December 10.
489 nominations from 55 productions ranging from Redlands in the north to Ballina in the south were narrowed down to 95 finalists in the 3rdannual Gold Coast Area Theatre Awards, presented on December 6, 2011 under the guidance of M.C. Ian Stenlake; star of Stage, Screen and Television.
The capacity audience enjoyed Ian’s opening song and dance routine and then eagerly awaited the judge’s decision in the 27 catagories on offer this year. The atmosphere was exciting and tense.
The 15th Victorian Drama League Awards were presented on Sunday December 4, 2011 in Melbourne.
