Belvoir Season 2017

Belvoir’s Artistic Director Eamon Flack has unveiled the company’s 2017 Season. There are new plays from Australia and around the world, return seasons and tours of popular plays and two of Belvoir’s favourite actors in two classics.

Toby Schmitz returns to the Belvoir stage, after a three year absence, in The Rover by Aphra Behn. Schmitz takes the swashbuckling titular role in this raucous and outrageous battle of the sexes from the woman widely considered the first professional female playwright.

Darlinghurst Theatre Company Season 2017

In its 2017 season at the Eternity Playhouse, Darlinghurst Theatre Company is producing world premieres of three new Australian plays including Jeanette Cronin’s comedy and puzzle play I Love You Now, Julian Larnach’s prophetic psychological thriller In Real Life and Mary Rachel Brown’s comedy and Christmas blues antidote Silent Night.

Man with a Mission

With the Heart of St Kilda charity concert on 6th September, 2016, Coral Drouyn talks to the amazing Brian Nankervis.

Brian Nankervis is better known to some of us as the marvellous comic beat poet Raymond J Bartholomeuz, or (if you’re a little young to remember the eighties) as the co-creator  and adjudicator of the fabulous Rockwiz, SBS’ great contribution to entertainment and nostalgia. But to the people of  St Kilda, Brian is a local, and a bloody good bloke and they owe him a lot, especially those in need.

Mamma Mia! Returns To Australia in 2017

MAMMA MIA! will tour Australia in 2017 – 2018 commencing its national tour in Canberra in November 2017 before moving on to five other capital cities. The announcement was made by the Hon. Andrew Barr, ACT Chief Minister.

Brisbane’s Double-Dose of Snow White

During September Brisbane has the unusual situation of two different versions of the Grimm Brothers classic fairytale Snow White playing main stages during September 2016. Peter Pinne reports.

First up is the exclusive Brisbane appearance of France’s Ballet Preljocaj performing Snow White as part of QPAC International Series and the Brisbane Festival. It plays the Lyric Theatre, QPAC, from the 2nd September until the 11th.

MTC Season 2017

Melbourne Theatre Company Artistic Director Brett Sheehy AO today (Aug 28, 2016) revealed MTC’s 2017 Season – a collection of works from around the world that celebrate the art of great, live storytelling. 

‘Season 2017 is one of our most exciting yet,’ Brett Sheehy said. ‘The year ahead draws together an enviable assortment of artists to present stories from France, Britain, Ireland, America, India, and, of course, Australia for a season that will bring laughter, empathy, debate and intrigue to all our lives.’

With Around The World in Eighty Days ready to burst onto our stages, Coral Drouyn talks to leading man Ian Stenlake.

Ian Stenlake is exactly what you would expect from one of our most prolific leading men; charming, self-effacing and warm, not to mention easy on the eye, though he admits he was even more so a decade ago.

Don’t Mention The War

Coral Drouyn explores how Fawlty Towers the ‘best comedy of all time’ will translate to the stage.

Groundhog Musical A Big Hit in London

Peter Pinne reports.

With reviewers calling it “an instant classic” and “could be better than the movie”, Tim Minchin’s musical version of the beloved Bill Murray movie Groundhog Day this week received a five star reception when it opened at London’s Old Vic.
