Fuego Carnal

Fuego Carnal
Adelaide Fringe. Gluttony – Empyrean. 12th February – 14th March, 2016

Our ringmaster cracks her whip quite literally gaining the attention of a good sized crowd. Her flirtatious manner is a hint of what is to come in this imaginative fiesta of feats.

Award winning ‘Dream State Circus’ are responsible for this heart racing display of strength, skill and sauciness. A cast of 6 performers create a Spanish vibe as they flirt with the audience whilst performing dangerous stunts.

Fuego is Spanish for fire and this is the thread that holds the show together. Twirling fire manipulators keep you on the edge of your seat with their amazing skill, all the while performing with a twinkle in their eye. Beautifully choreographed hoop twirling is performed on pointe and aerial acrobatics ensure you’re on the edge of your seat, as there is no safety net in sight.

A hoop-twirling duel is both charming and imaginative, both performers displaying agility and dominance. Juggling of fire-lit bars is incredible, made all the more frightening as fumes are smelt and heat is felt. Acrobatics by founding members, husband and wife team Jacob and Sophie McGrath displayed an enormous amount of trust as they flipped each-other around like rag dolls.

This show offers pure exhilarating entertainment. A well-rehearsed passionate troupe performing to a thumping soundtrack did not need much encouragement, but were egged on by a vocal audience.
