It’s A Wonderful Life: Live Radio Play for Christmas

Phoenix Ensemble (Qld) presents an adaptation of Frank Capra’s much loved Christmas story, It’s A Wonderful Life, as its final show of 2013.

It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play is performed as a 1940s live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience. Ten actors perform the dozens of characters in the radio play as well as produce the sound effects.

The Phoenix production, directed by Steve Pearton, will play at the boutique Pavilion Theatre in Beenleigh over two weekends from December 6, including Sunday matinees.

Ballarat National Theatre Turns 75

The Ballarat National Theatre celebrates 75 years with a short documentary filmproduced by Wind & Sky Productions.

The film features core members of the Ballarat National Theatre, past and present, and reflects on the significance and history of the company.

Manly Musical Society’s 10th production will be comedy horror rock musical Little Shop of Horrors, by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, based on the 1960 black comedy film.

Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of hapless, nerdish florist Seymour, who harbors a crush on co-worker, the ditzy blonde and ever-vulnerable Audrey.

UTS Students Produce Quack

Student theatre society Backstage UTS (NSW) is staging Ian Wilding’s Australian play Quack from November 15 to 23, 2013. The Griffin Theatre Company recently commissioned Quack after Ian Wilding won the Patrick White Playwrights’ Award in 2009. Only the play’s second Australian production, is being produced by Backstage in association with the student union of the University of Technology Sydney.

With some unexpected laughs, preconceived ideas and assumptions are shattered as each family member learns how to reveal their true selves.
