Antiques Decorate Gaslight in Style

Patrick Hamilton’s chilling Victorian psychological thriller Gaslight is the final production for 2013 for the Centenary Theatre Group (Queensland), opening on 2 November.

This classic thriller, set in Victorian London, was first produced in 1938 and later filmed twice, in Britain and in the USA. Ingrid Bergman won an Oscar for her portrayal of Bella Manningham in the latter version.

Hold onto your Hairdos Concord!

Broadway musical hit Hairspray is Ashfield Musical Society’s next production, opening on November 1st 2013 at Concord RSL (NSW).

Set in the 1960s in Baltimore, Tracy Turnblad (Anita Margiotta), a girl with big hair and big heart, dreams of dancing on her favourite TV show. She lands herself a role, and the interest of teenage heartthrob, Link Larkin (Cameron Anderson), much to the ire of Link’s girlfriend Amber Von Tussle (Danielle Bellini).

Boeing Boeing: Farce Flies in to Perth

Playlovers’ upcoming production Boeing Boeing by French playwright Marc Camoletti, translated by Beverley Cross and directed by David Nelson, flies into Perth this November.

The classic farce opened in London’s West End in 1962, where it played for seven years.

Fame to light up the Beenleigh sky like a flame

Beenleigh Theatre Group (Queensland) is staging Fame the Musical from November 15 to 30, 2013.

Fame the Musical follows the students at New York's School of the Performing Arts through their tough, four-year course. The audience will see the students coming to terms with life and relationships: we will see those who persevere, who are resilient - and those who are not. Mother and Son on Stage in Western Sydney

The Henry Lawson Theatre in Werrington County presents the Sydney Stage Premiere of Mother and Son during November 2013.

Four episodes from this classic ABC TV series, The Milk, The Christmas Drinks, The Funeral and The Last Will, have been adapted for stage with permission from series creator and writer, Geoffrey Atherden, by Henry Lawson Theatre’s Joshua Crew, who also co-directs with Nicole Madden.

Wild, High Camp Comedy Thriller for Adelaide

Containing more twists than a corkscrew, Corpse!  was first staged in 1984, in London’s West End. Welcomed by The Daily Mail as ‘a wild, high camp comedy thriller, a play where anything can happen ­–and most of it does’, it began its Broadway run at the Helen Hayes Theatre in 1986. Fast forward to 2013 and the Therry Dramatic Society’s November production at The Arts Theatre, Adelaide.

Social Satire and Scandal in The Women at Chester Street

The barbs come fast and furious in Clare Booth Luce’s bitchy, biting, social satire The Women, on stage at Theatre on Chester, Epping, NSW from November 8, 2013.

A smash hit when first performed on Broadway in 1936, playing 657 performances at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, it is probably best known thanks to the 1939 classic/cult movie of the same name.

The play is set in the world of high society Manhattan, in a time when women’s lives revolved around their efforts to look beautiful to obtain and hold on to wealthy husbands.

Oklahoma! Swansong for Wardrobe Stalwart

When Normanhurst Uniting Church Musical Society (NUCMS) presents Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musical Oklahoma! in October / November 2013, it will mark the end of an era with the retirement of the company’s stalwart Wardrobe coordinator.

Diana Moehead (pictured left in her element) retires after many years of incredible service. She has been involved with costume creation as far back as 1993, and has either led a small team of costumers or been the sole wardrobe provider for almost every NUCMS show since 1998.
