A Chorus Line Dances into Chatswood!

A Chorus Line Dances into Chatswood!

Willoughby Theatre Company celebrates the 50th anniversary of a musical theatre icon, the ground-breaking Broadway classic A Chorus Line, at The Concourse Theatre in Chatswood from May 23 to June 1, 2025 — for 12 performances only.

Celebrating 50 years since its original Broadway debut, A Chorus Line pulls back the curtain on the lives of dancers fighting for a spot in a Broadway chorus. With no traditional set, no star and no traditional plot, this bold and honest musical revolutionised musical theatre and remains just as powerful today.

Featuring iconic numbers including “What I Did for Love”, “One”, “At the Ballet” and “The Music and the Mirror”, this production promises heart-pounding dance and raw, emotional storytelling. The cast includes 26 local performers, each bringing energy and authenticity to this deeply personal ensemble piece.

Director Stig Bell says, "A Chorus Line is a masterclass in character, movement, and truth. It offers a deeply human look at the sacrifices and resilience behind every performer’s journey. The themes of ambition, identity, and vulnerability are just as relevant today as they were 50 years ago. This cast has embraced that with honesty and heart—it's a privilege to bring such an iconic piece to the stage in this milestone year."

Taking on the role of Cassie is Emily Dreyer, who brings both emotional depth and technical skill to the show’s most demanding number, “The Music and the Mirror”.

“Playing Cassie is both a challenge and an honour,” says Dreyer. “She’s vulnerable, determined and a dream role— it demands deep emotional truth, and has humbled me as a performer to step into her shoes.”

WTC President Scott Richmond adds, “A Chorus Line embodies everything that makes musical theatre powerful—authentic storytelling, groundbreaking choreography, and a deep emotional connection. We’re thrilled to honour the legacy of this show and energise it with our outstanding local talent.”

With dynamic choreography, intimate storytelling and a powerful ensemble, A Chorus Line invites audiences to experience the passion, pressure and humanity behind the pursuit of the spotlight.

A Chorus Line runs from May 23 to June 1, 2025, at The Concourse Theatre, Chatswood. For more information and to book tickets, visit: www.willoughbytheatreco.com.au
