Legally Blonde in Sydney’s East

Harvard's beloved blonde takes the stage by pink storm in this fun, upbeat story of self-discovery

Sydney’s newest community musical theatre group, MustSee Shows, presents the award-winning Legally Blonde The Musical from July 2. Based on the movie, the musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams.

Alongside an ensemble cast of 30 and featuring several big song-and-dance numbers, Elle discovers that she is more than just a pretty face and that she doesn't need to change who she is to fit in or succeed.

Director Kathy Petrakis gives a glimpse of what to expect from this production: “We’ve worked tirelessly to interweave all elements together to create an immersive, high-energy musical production—lots of choreography, talented cast, colourful costumes, lighting precision from professional providers, dazzling visuals, and quality sound bringing it all to life for one unforgettable experience.

“Directing a musical that maximizes the potential of a large, beautiful stage while also offering strong roles for women and plenty of dancing makes for an exciting production”, adds Kathy.

Explaining the choice for MustSee’s first show, Kathy says “It has energy, humour, heart, and plenty of moments to shine- both theatrically and choreographically. Plus, its diverse but mostly youthful cast and broad appeal makes it the right choice for an inaugural production. And of course there’s the fact it’s one of my favourites!”.

MustSee Shows promises that Legally Blonde The Musical  will be so much fun, it should be illegal! Plus the audience is encouraged to dress in their best Elle Woods pink.

Venue: Ascham Packer Theatre, 188 New South Head Road, Edgecliff

About MustSee Shows

MustSee Shows is Sydney’s newest community musical and theatre group, based in Sydney’s East.

The Society aims to continue the Eastern Suburbs’ long and proud history of presenting high-quality amateur and professional musical theatre. The absence of a locally-based community musical theatre group in the region in the last 10 years was a key reason for MustSee Shows to be born.

Our vision is simple: for both audiences and performers to deeply benefit from the joy and enrichment that musical theatre brings to our lives. As we grow and evolve, we are committed to bringing outstanding entertainment, and importantly, provide performing opportunities for those in the East and surrounds to shine on and off stage.

The Committee behind MustSee Shows has a combined experience in amateur musical theatre and professional entertainment of over 80 years - in performance, production and talent management. All committee members serve on a voluntary basis.

Legally Blonde – The Musical is their inaugural show.
