Peter Pan Musical flies in for Central Coast Season

Peter Pan Musical flies in for Central Coast Season

Peter Pan, like its namesake, is a story that never grows old. Children and adults alike fall under the spell of Neverland, a place where children can fly and exciting, frightening adventures happen every day.

Wyong Musical Theatre Company plans to  transport NSW Central Coast audiences to Neverland from September 21 to 29, with Peter Pan the British Musical.

All the ever popular characters are there – Peter, Wendy and her brothers, the dastardly Captain Hook and his oddly genial sidekick Smee, Tiger Lily and the Indians, Tinkerbell, the scary Crocodile and Nana the canine nursemaid.

Wyong Musical Theatre Company has cast Ksenia Teliatnikova in the role of Peter. Ksenia completed her HSC at Gosford High School last year and is currently studying ballet full time at Alegria School of Dance. Despite pursuing serious dancing this year, Ksenia says that there are many things she likes to do, and she has no clear picture yet of what path she wants her future to take.

This busy and talented young lady is also filming as an extra in Dance Academy, to be screened on ABC TV soon. Ksenia’s two younger brothers are also both appearing as lost boys in Peter Pan.

Ksenia didn’t originally audition for Peter; she auditioned for Wendy, but when asked to have a go at the Peter dialogue and songs, she couldn’t resist the opportunity to unleash her boyish charms on the world, and challenge herself with something outside the scope of her usual repertoire.

Ksenia says “her Peter” is “free as a bird! He knows nothing of worry and doubt, his only fear being that of time, and the changes it will bring to his life. I believe that in every one of us there is always a youthful exuberance (often suppressed by the pressures of adulthood)”. However enticing being young forever may seem, Ksenia says it is not the path she would choose – “for growing up would be an awfully big adventure.”

Peter Pan the British Musical plays from September 21 to 29, 2012. Online bookings are available now at www.wmtc.com.au. Tickets are all $18. Phone 1300 366 470 with any enquiries. Some performances are already sold out.
