Proof for Hunters Hill

Proof for Hunters Hill

Next at Hunters Hill Theatre (NSW) is Proof by David Auburn, which opens on August 10.

Proof is a poignant drama about love and reconciliation, which unfolds on the back porch of a house in a suburban university town, following the death of Catherine's father. Centered around a groundbreaking mathematical proof, the play explores the question, just how much of her father’s brilliance, and his mental health issues, has Catherine inherited?

Proof is directed by Casey Moon-Watton, an IT Project Manager, who  got into theatre 13 years ago when a friend promised him beer if he sat back stage for two hours and moved a couch when she said. Casey ended up as the Production Manager for the Brisbane Art Theatre for a number of years, then a board member and Treasurer.

This is Casey's 4th gig as director; his second for Hunters Hill, following two for Nash Theatre in Brisbane.

Tina Brown, who is playing Catherine, a newcomer to Hunters Hill Theatre, is from the US, and has been in Australia for a couple of years. She had actually made a promise to herself that she would audition for the first American play she saw. That turned out to be Proof – and Tina kept her promise. Not even her upcoming wedding in September deterred her.
