Miranda Patron Geraldine Turner Directs Brel

Miranda Musical Society Patron and Musical Theatre star Geraldine Turner directs the company’s June production of 'Jacques Brel is alive and well and living in Paris’ at Sutherland Memorial School of Arts from June 7 to 26, 2016.

The sardonic, wise and intensely emotive songs of influential Belgian composer and performer Jacques Brel still ring in the air, thanks to this show that introduced Brel to many American listeners in 1968, a decade before his untimely death at age 49.

Psychological Thriller Death and the Maiden

Blithe Spirit 75 Years On

Mousetrap Theatre at Redcliffe, Queensland has the unique experience of presenting Noël Coward’s most famous play Blithe Spirit exactly 75 years after the famous author first penned it. While the production runs over 3 weeks from 29 April to 14 May, Coward took only 6 days from 3 - 9 May 1941 to write his masterpiece. The play was his most successful, having held the record for the most performances for several decades, until it was surpassed by Agatha Christie’s equally famous Mousetrap (yet another link to this well-known local company).

Musical Theatre New Zealand Conference 2016

A record number of participants attended the 56th Musical Theatre New Zealand conference in Rotorua during March. David Spicer reports.

Guest speaker was the legendary creator of The Rocky Horror Show, Richard O’Brien, who can be seen in fine form explaining how much he hates Opera in a special episode of Stage Whispers TV from the conference.

Rotorua is best known internationally for its extraordinary belching lava pools, sulphuric pong and hot baths. It also has a long history in musical theatre.

Award Winning Songs Entertain at Strathfield

Strathfield Musical Society is presenting another of its successful Cabaret style productions titled ENCORE - The best of the Oscars and Tonys, over one weekend in May – 20th, 21st and 22nd. The show features the great songs from Hollywood and Broadway's Oscar and Tony awards.
