Disney Announces Australia’s Belle and Beast

The Walt Disney Company has announced the two performers that have been cast in the lead roles of Belle and the Beast when the new production of Beauty and the Beast makes its Australian premiere at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre in June 2023.

Shubshri Kandiah (Belle) and Brendan Xavier (Beast) will bring the iconic roles to life in this new production from the producers of Frozen, Aladdin, The Lion King and Mary Poppins.

Shubshri is best known for her role as Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin and currently playing the title role in Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

Brendan is currently performing in Frozen the Musical which was his first professional musical theatre role.

“The excitement we felt in the audition room when Brendan and Shubshri performed for us was electric. These two extraordinary young performers bring fresh life to these iconic roles, and we are thrilled that a whole new generation of Australian audiences will have the pleasure of witnessing their interpretation in this new production,” said director & choreographer Matt West.

The entire of the cast will be announced at a later date including the roles of Lumiere, Gaston, Cogsworth, Mrs Potts, Le Fou, Maurice, Babette and Madame.

Beauty and the Beast will be produced in Australia by The Walt Disney Company and Disney Theatrical Productions, under the supervision of Thomas Schumacher.

The Australian premiere of Disney's Beauty and the Beast is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW.

Ticketing Information

Disney Theatrical Productions are offering accessible pricing options, including some tickets available for as low as $50 (with no additional Ticketmaster transaction fee). Those looking for the best value tickets are encouraged to look at mid-week evening performances and during school terms. 

Customers who wish to buy 4 tickets at once can access great value seats in mid-week evening performances and save $20 per ticket in selected price reserves.

Groups of 8 or more are encouraged to contact the Ticketmaster groups department on groups@ticketmaster.com.au for a discount of $30 per ticket in certain price reserves.
