State Theatre Company South Australia Season 2026

From the intimate to the epic, the classical to the radical and the playful to the political, State Theatre Company South Australia’s 2026 season – the first from new Artistic Director Petra Kalive (Pictured above) is a collection of world premieres, modern Australian masterworks and new takes on classics from the Western canon.

“The works in 2026 are each vital in their own way. They hold a mirror to our cultural and political present; you’ll squirm, laugh, and question in the same breath,” Kalive says.

ART by Yasmina Reza to Tour in 2026

Richard Roxburgh (Rake, The Correspondent, Elvis), Damon Herriman (Better Man, Mr Inbetween, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Ryan Corr (House of the Dragon, Holding the Man, Kangaroo) will star together in the internationally award-winning play ART by Yasmina Reza translated by Chrispher Hampton, a razor-sharp comedy about friendship, ego and the chaos a single opinion can cause.

When Broadway musical A BEAUTIFUL NOISE: THE NEIL DIAMOND MUSICAL has its Australian premiere in Melbourne in August 2026 at The Princess Theatre, producers Paul Dainty AO and TEG Dainty, Ken Davenport, Bob Gaudio have announced that Broadway star Will Swenson, who originated the role of Neil Diamond on Broadway, will lead the cast.  

Additional Casting Announced for Anastasia Musical Premiere

The producers have announced that Robert Tripolino, Joshua Robson, Rodney Dobson, Rhonda Burchmore and Nancye Hayes AM will join Georgina Hopson in leading the cast of ANASTASIA, which will have its Australian premiere at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne in December 2025 before touring to Perth and Sydney in 2026.

Bell Shakespeare 2026 Season

Bell Shakespeare has announced its 2026 Season, with three productions to be presented around the country. A new production of Julius Caesar will open the year, followed by the world premiere of Mackenzie, a new play by Yve Blake, and an extensive national tour of the company’s 2023 production of Macbeth.
