Sydney Theatres Closed

Greater Sydney's Theatres will be closed for two weeks under lockdown orders announced by the NSW Premier.

The new restrictions announced Saturday, extend the ban from central Sydney and the eastern suburbs announced on Friday, to include Greater Sydney, the Central Coast and Wollongong.

Gladys Berejiklian told a media conference that unless businesses in the areas are essential services, such as serving food, then they must close.

The lockdown will last at least until the 9th of July at midnight.

The news is  bitter blow to the entertainment industry which was only just beginning to get back on its feet.

Outside greater Sydney in regional NSW theatres can stay open, subject to the one person per four square metre rule and compulsory mask wearing.

Message from the Sydney Theatre Company on Friday.

In light of the NSW Government stay-at-home orders announced today for Woollahra, Waverley, Randwick and the City of Sydney, STC has cancelled all remaining performances of Grand Horizons (Fri 25 Jun – Sat 3 Jul), the first two performances of Triple X (Thu 1 Jul & Fri 2 Jul) and tonight’s Rough Draft live-streamed event.
All ticket holders will be contacted via email with ticket return options including a full refund or a credit voucher (valid for 3 years). Please also consider, if you have the means to do so, donating the cost of your tickets to help us endure another period of disruption.
Our Box Office is extremely busy fielding a high volume of requests. Requests will be confirmed as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and patience. We’ll continue to update you as the situation evolves. Stay safe!
