Age of Reason - A Love Letter to Coming of Age and John Farnham

Age of Reason - A Love Letter to Coming of Age and John Farnham
By Jayda D’Agostino. Fringe World. Rosemount Hotel, North Perth, WA. Jan 29 - Feb 5. 2026

Opening with the title song, Jayda D’Agostino’s Age of Reason, is precisely what it suggests in the title, a coming-of-age story, set to the John Farnham hits that shaped Jayda’s childhood and early adulthood.

Jayda, looking gorgeous in glittered denim, fronts a four-piece band featuring Lucy Browning on bass, Alex Barker on drums, Josh Fairweather on guitar (including some lovely acoustic playing) and Jasper Lambert on keys and keytar. Two animated and talented backup singers, Hannah Reader and Maya Surjan completed the line-up.

Jayda has a fabulous voice and Farnham’s hits with their soaring vocals are a perfect vehicle for her talents. The great variety of Farnham’s work allows for a show with great stylistic difference so that you have gentle seated ballads with an acoustic accompaniment through to full bouncing rock concert vibe.

The storytelling in this very personal cabaret is interesting and honest, and Jayda employs self-deprecating humor and relatable confessions. Warm, lovable and funny, she endeared herself to the capacity crowd.

Great to a see a show that not only had great music, expertly performed, but had lovely human elements that made Age of Reason - A Love Letter to Coming of Age and John Farnham, a very special experience.
