The Booster Protocol

This “Choose Your Own Adventure” show is a Perth Festival Commission, and the most important tip I can give you is that your experience will not be the same as mine. The experience starts at the Boost Travel Agent in Barrack Street. It is right next door to the Liberty Theatre, and even though you were at the Liberty last week, and could swear that the travel agency wasn’t there, it has the feel of being there forever. The agency looks normal enough, apart from dated technology, until you realize it is not only offering tours for 2026, but for many years in the future…and in the past.

Departing every ten minutes, the audience become time travellers, agents given assignments to boost their mood and to learn from people fighting for human rights, anywhere in the world. Participants are issued a bright yellow bag, a neck devise that acts as headphones (safer in traffic) and a mobile phone, on which you will receive instructions on how to get to each event. Your assignments may differ from your companions (I was keen to visit the suffragettes but did not get the opportunity) and you may be asked to draw, sing, build with large scale dominos or bash a coin to wear down the patriarchy (thanks Rayann for that description).

Wear comfortable walking shoes, take some water and your reading glasses if needed and be prepared to learn a lot, while having fun. This is the sort of show that you could easily attend twice - and is a wonderful choice for those who like their theatre active and unique.
