Gasha

Gasha
Cirquework and Fringe World. ICF Warehouse at the Ice Cream Factory, Roe St, Northbridge WA. Jan 21 - Feb 15, 2026

Gasha, presented by Cirquework, hails from Japan, and this headliner show, in one of FringeWorld’s larger venues, runs the full length of FringeWorld.

Given that there are a lot of great circus style shows at Fringe World, this one has plenty of difference and elements that make it stand out - one of the most striking being its Japanese evolution. The show begins and ends with a beautiful young woman in kimono, silhouetted against a rising sun, and in between we are given a fast-paced rock vision of near future Japan.

A truly international lineup with performers from Australia, Canada and France as well as Japan, the show launches with an aerialist hanging from her hair (a hairialist?) and continues with beautiful small hoop work, Australian performer Daniel Price performs within a giant ring, balancing and spinning within. There is stunning silk work and a unique foot balance segment from Erin Lee, that is a fitting finale.

The performances are accompanied and supplemented by rock music, including live rock guitar, and rock shamisen by performer Mar Paraele - stunning and impressive.

Pacy and polished this one is a must see for Japanophiles and lovers of cirque. It carries a PG rating, but will thrill older children and families.
