Jackson v Jackson

Jackson v Jackson
Presented by Gospo Pty Ltd. Fringe at The Peacock at Gluttony. 10 March – 22 March 2026.

The energy inside the Peacock Tent at the Adelaide Fringe was electric as the audience packed in for the sensational Jackson vs Jackson at Gluttony. What followed was nothing short of world-class entertainment! This show was an exhilarating celebration of the music of Michael and Janet Jackson delivered with breathtaking artistry, precision and soul.

At the centre of this extraordinary production is the incomparable Charmaine Janitha Jones; her presence on stage is magnetic. As musical director, conductor and powerhouse vocalist, she leads the performance with charisma, authority, warmth and humility and although Janitha Jones is at the centre of this incredible production, she has an uncanny ability to not make it ‘all about her’ sharing the spotlight equally with all who perform on the stage with her. With a remarkable ability to bring together musicians, singers and dancers into a unified force, her arrangements transform the Jackson catalogue into something fresh, soulful and utterly exhilarating with her vision and leadership shining throughout the entire production.

The Gospo Choir is simply phenomenal. Their rich gospel harmonies elevate every song, creating a wall of sound that fills the tent with joy and energy. The eight featured singers and equally impressive four featured dancers are exceptional, each bringing their own style, vocal strength and stage presence. Together they deliver hit after hit in seamless mashups and some of the best arrangements I have ever heard, keeping the audience captivated from start to finish.

The choreography and costuming were exciting, sharp and perfectly presented, capturing the spirit and iconic style of the Jackson legacy while also injecting a new vitality. Every move was delivered with precision and gusto, adding visual dynamism that perfectly complemented the music. This was all underpinned by an exceptional live band that drives the show with unrelenting groove and power. A special mention must also go to the sound engineer whose work ensured every note was crisp, balanced and clear, a remarkable achievement in such a large Fringe venue.

One of the most heart-warming highlights came when the young performers joined the stage. The youthful singers and dancers, part of the extended Gospo family, brought a beautiful sense of joy and authenticity. Their performance within one of the arrangements was among the most delightful moments showcasing the nurturing musical culture that Janitha Jones has built.

From the first beat to the last, the joy, vibrancy and sheer musical excellence radiating from the stage was infectious. In every aspect, from the vocals, choreography, band, arrangements, costumes and production, Jackson v Jackson is pure ‘class’, and at the heart of it all stands one truly special lady - Charmaine Janitha Jones. Bravo to all involved!
