Who would have thought that the answer to your average baby boomer music fan’s prayers would come in the shape of a full-blown, unabashedly theatrical odyssey, delivered by 9+member ensemble - strongly featuring a handful Gen Y musical prodigies hailing from the NSW Central Coast? While Old Black Eyes’ name features prominently on the marquee, he sensibly shares the stage and the microphone equally with this downright adorable bunch of multi-skilled youngsters and they all-but steal the show. With witty narration, lighting effects and tight choreography, The Rock Show explodes with energy and atmosphere. It would be giving too much away to list all the iconic bands covered in their comprehensive set list, but I will say that the troupe’s palpable camaraderie really lends magic to their mid-show medley of anthems from the flower-child era. Having toured this show for two years, The Rock Show – More is basically the same construct, but with a revised set-list. This a great night out for young and old, featuring a genuine Aussie legend who can still rock out with the best…and proves it.
