Late Night Impro Lounge

Late Night Impro Lounge
Wine Bar, Enmore Theatre (NSW). Comedy Festival. 10.15pm, April 27 / 28, May 4, 5, 11 & 12, 2012.

Some people are just born with funny bones and thankfully the core group of this show including Impro Australia veterans, Rebecca De Unamuno, David Callan and Cale Bain have been endowed with their fair share.

As the Ring Mistress of this delightful lucky dip of impro comedy De Unamuno effortlessly guides the audience through a series of reinterpreted theatre-sports games. De Unamuno is a true comedic gem - why else would Jason Alexander (aka George Costanza) choose to work with her whenever he's in town. Each game features a special guest and on this particular night we were lucky enough to see David Collins (one half of the fabulous Umbilical Brothers) and Canada's Deanne Smith.

There is something exhilarating about watching a group of people standing on stage hovering on a comedic knife-edge. Will they succeed in tickling our funny bone or will they fall in a heap - which actually sometimes can be just as funny to watch

The Late Night Impro Lounge is a simple and yet effective concept and running at just over an hour doesn't tax the audience late into the night. It actually leaves you on a high giggling all the way home.
