Mamma Mia!

ABBA fans who are fortunate enough to see this production will be over the moon!   

This staging is jam-packed with all the favourites and then some. The strong cast is led by Jessica Papst (Donna), Jacy Lewis (Tanya) and Melissa Dorge (Rosie), with Andy MacFarland (am), Jonathon Whitlow (Harry) and Sean Curran (Bill) and junior leads Alannah Eyerich (Sophie) and Jake Cropley (Sky).

Directed and Choreographed by Spotlight stalwart Jamie Watt with Musical Director Peter Laughton and assisted by Shari Willner, the show is non-stop music and colour: enhanced by great lighting and numerous bubble machines.

The music started back in the 70’s but the story and the movie were created more recently and so the storyline is a bit flimsy in places in order to include as many of Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus’s fabulous songs as possible.

From the start, the audience were requested not to ‘sing-along’ until the end of the show and complying with the request they waited patiently until the finale when they almost brought the house down! 

 The multi-level set (of a Greek island Tavern) was used to great effect by all members of the cast. Scene changes were slick and quiet and didn’t hinder the steady pace of the production.

With strong performances all round, Mamma Mia!  is an excellent example of Community Theatre at its best! If you haven’t booked your ticket, I’m sorry to inform you that the season has been sold out!
