Princess Obsession

Princess Obsession
The Black Flamingo, The Pleasure Gardens, Northbridge, WA. Feb 16-18, 2015

I've long been a fan of the lovely Emma Davis and the prospect of Emma exploring Disney Princesses seemed a perfect combination.

In this one woman show (which feels more like a solo musical than a cabaret - for its clear storyline and structured approach), Emma tells the stories of the women who voiced the first three Disney Princesses - Snow White's Adriana Caselotti, Cinderella's Ilene Woods and Sleeping Beauty's Mary Costa.

Seamlessly transitioning from her narrator self, to the voice artists and also to a plethora of other characters, Emma brings these characters to life and reveals strong skills as a vocal mimic.

Supported by a single pianist, with technical artistry by Emma's husband Ben Davis (who also performs a brief cameo), Emma carries the show beautifully and her gentle, genuine performance captivated throughout - despite some audio pollution from an adjoining venue.

Featuring a wonderful storyteller with a gorgeous performance, the docu-musical Princess Obsession was a sweet treat.
