Titus Andronicus
Titus Andronicus is Shakespeare’s earliest revenge tragedy!
This latest presentation by Mercury’s Wings Theatre Co, on the Gold Coast, is a fastmoving, actioned-packed production demanding the entire cast be 100 % fit!

The Director, Dr Patrick Mitchell, has based the action in modern times with appropriate costumes while maintaining all the action of this legendary piece.
A strong cast of 3 females and 9 males work well with and against each other with good diction and projection, while maintaining the element of warfare.
A first for this reviewer, the programme was obtained via a QR code, which, for me, was not 100% successful and meant artists names and details were not readily available.
Projected scenery and limited hand props were used to enhance the experience.

The title role of Titus was in the capable hands of James Anderson, an experienced Shakespearian performer and teacher.
Unfortunately, due to my unsuccessful QR download, the little detail of the cast I had, is no longer available to me, which is very unfortunate as there were a number of performers I would have liked the mentioned.
I, like many older theatre patrons, am not into social media, and so rely on the theatre’s website for information of the company and the production.

Mercury’s Wings Theatre Company has been established for many years and hopefully can make Shakespeare more accessible to all in the future.
