Open Call for South Australian Artists to Apply for Slingsby’s Flying Squad

Slingsby has released an open call-out for South Australian artists to audition for their newest initiative: The Flying Squad - a creative ensemble of five multi-disciplined professional artists who will be employed on two-year contracts to devise and present new works across South Australia.

The Flying Squad will focus on creating unique and inspirational theatrical experiences that are adaptable to a COVID world and tour to a variety of locations in South Australia, including local communities and schools to foster deeper experiences with theatre.

Slingsby’s Flying Squad has been made possible through a co-investment of $588,746 from the federal RISE Fund and $100,000 from Arts South Australia’s Arts Recovery Fund.

“We are thrilled that Slingsby’s has secured RISE Fund investment to establish Slingsby’s Flying Squad, dramatically extending the reach of our theatre making and community building.

Slingsby’s Flying Squad, a team of multi-skilled diverse artists, will travel the state, collaborating and sharing with remote, regional and metropolitan communities. Energised by our passion for creativity, storytelling and shared time and space, our goal is to inspire, fortify and build connection with and between South Australians living across our beautiful and varied landscape.”
