Sydney Theatre Audiences Shrinking

Sydney Theatre Companies are coming to terms with new restrictions on the number of people allowed into indoor venues.

The NSW Government has announced that that indoor spaces must have only one person per four square metres.  which means that many theatres will not be able to legally sell 100% of their tickets.

The producer of Hamilton has announced that it will be running at 50% capacity from June 23 until 30.

Sydney's Belvoir Street Theatre has also announced that fewer seats will be available for patrons.

Sydney's Ensemble theatre reminded patrons that masks are now compulsory.

The Capitol Theatre says that are all performances of Come from Away are proceeding in accordence with COVID-19 protocold.

Statement from Darlinghurst Theatre Company.

"In response to the new restrictions imposed by the NSW Government today and in the interest of public safety, tonight and tomorrow's performances (Wednesday 23 June and Thursday 24 June) of Once the Musical will not be going ahead.
Although this saddens us, it is important that our company take time to review our COVID SAFE plan to action safe social distancing with reduced capacities at our theatre, as the health and wellbeing of our patrons, artists and staff are of utmost importance to us.
If you have a ticket to a performance of Once the Musical between 23rd June - 1st of July, please check your inbox as we have emailed all ticket holders with an update.
We have also just extended our season to Friday 6 August, so you still have plenty of opportunities to see this fantastic show with great seats available before it closes in Sydney."
