West Side Story Heads North to Chatswood

West Side Story Heads North to Chatswood

Classic Broadway musical West Side Story plays at the Zenith Theatre in Chatswood this November.

Famously based on Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet and featuring Stephen Sondheim’s brilliant lyrics and Leonard Bernstein’s extraordinary score, West Side Story places star crossed-lovers Tony and Maria squarely at the centre of a New York City gang war.

The world's greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre's finest accomplishments. The two young, idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the established "American" Jets and the immigrant Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

Directed by Chapin Ayres, with musical director Kane Wheatley and choreographer Stephanie Edmonds, the West Side Story cast includes Michaela Leisk as Maria, Anthony Levin as Tony, Jon Goodsell as Riff, Isaac Bradley as Bernardo and Susana Downes as Anita, as well as Alex Acosta, Frankie Bouchier, Natalie Rose Cassaniti, Lisa Cooper, Luke Davis, Hayley Dwight, Joshua Ebert, Christine Fletcher, Jillian Freede, Kelly Goldberg, Ken Goth, Melody Ha, Jaclyn Hewett, James Worner, Victor Aguilera, Brooklyn Newey, Michael Coumi, Alex Jalloh, Jack Newey, Scott Newey, Lillian Jean Shaddick, Natasha Sturgis, Andrew Davis, Rebecca Wewege, David Wiernik, Imogen Howe and Michael Votano.
