MTC Script Notes

The Melbourne Theatre Company has built a free suite of “Script Notes” videos giving insights into how actors, directors and playwrights work with scripts – as part of the company’s award-winning Education Hub.

The videos showcase the variety of ways cast and creatives use their scripts in rehearsal.

Rebecca Fortuna, owner and director of Red Theatricals in Templestowe and Bulleen in Victoria, has been announced this year’s recipient of the coveted Travel Gang Theatre Educator's scholarship, winning the trip of a lifetime, valued at $14,000.

Hoods

Year 11 Drama students from St Mark’s Anglican Community School Hillarys, presented Australin drama Hoods for a short season. The class of nine students created an ensemble cast, playing multiple roles and forming a Greek chorus to tell this touching story of abandoned children, left in a car, in a shopping centre car park.

Alice in Wonderland

By Jack Bradfield and Gerel Falconer. Directed by Matilda Allen, Isobel Barker, Liv Bell, Miller Duffield, Greta Terzieva and Mira Yew. PLC Perth. Hazel Day Drama Centre, PLC Perth, WA. Aug 7-9, 2025

Alice in Wonderland was PLC’s first Student Led production, sparked when PLC hosted Future Anything, an organisation that helps young people turn their ideas into action. From this came a production where students have taken full creative ownership in this collaborative production.

Legally Blonde

Mercedes College presented Legally Blonde for a short season at The Regal Theatre. The final production for retiring director Kathleen Cocks, this polished, beautifully performed musical with outstanding production values, was a fitting farewell. The large, enthusiastic young cast, which included borrowed young men, performed with great skill.

Urinetown: The Musical

It is said, “It takes a village to raise a child”, maybe it should say “It takes a school to foster students to create a memorable musical!” This is exactly what Pulteney Grammar school has done in their latest production of Urinetown: The Musical.
