Aussie Play Scores Six Tony Nominations
The Sydney Theatre Company production of The Picture of Dorian Gray has picked up six Tony Award nominations including one for Best Director, Kip Williams, and another for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Sarah Snook.
The production was also nominated for Best Costume Design of a Play, Marg Horwell; Best Lighting Design of a Play, Nick Schlieper; Best Sound Design of a play, Clemence Williams and Best Scenic Design of a Play, Marg Horwell and David Bergman.
Other Australian connections in the Tony nominations include six nominations for the musical Just in Time, which is co-produced by Australian impressario John Frost.
The musical based on the life of Bobby Darin is a star vehicle for Jonathan Groff.
Another big star to be nominated was George Clooney for Good Night, and Good Luck.
