New Sydney Home for Music Theatre and Cabaret

Independent Music Theatre and Cabaret has a new home in Sydney, taking over the current Darlinghurst Theatre in 2014. 

It has now been announced that theatre will be renamed the Hayes Theatre, in honour of Australian musical theatre legend Nancye Hayes OAM.

Australian Premiere: Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson

Broadway musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson is described as being like Saturday Night Live via the History Channel, given the Green Day treatment.

MTC ANNOUNCES RUPERT WILL TOUR TO WASHINGTON D.C.

Melbourne Theatre Company today (July 16, 2013) announced that David Williamson’s Rupert will tour to Washington D.C. to participate in the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts WORLD STAGES: INTERNATIONAL THEATER FESTIVALin March 2014. This is Melbourne Theatre Company’s first international tour and it will be the only Australian theatre company participating in this Festival.

Once a Gypsy

WICKED returns to its original Australian home, the Regent Theatre, Melbourne in 2014, opening on Saturday May 10, 2014 (previews May 7 - 9) for a strictly limited season, before touring to Sydney's Capitol Theatre from September 20 and Brisbane, with a cast led by popular stars from the original Australian tour, Lucy Durack (Glinda), Jemma Rix (Elphaba) and Maggie Kirkpatrick (Madame Morrible).

Hot Shoe Shuffling for 21 Years.

The Dancing Man - David Atkins - has dusted off his tap shoes to help introduce a new generation to Hot Shoe Shuffle, the musical he co-created. Now opening in Sydney, and soon Melbourne after a Brisbane season, the director of iconic sporting ceremonies in recent times  is back on stage. David Spicer reports.

David Atkins relishes telling the story about how the musical which has now been performed in six countries, and was a hit in the West End, got started.

GREASE: More Casting and More Performances Announced.

Due to “an unprecedented demand for tickets,” more performances of GREASE are being released for sale on July 15 in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

GREASE producer John Frost said, “We’re thrilled with the overwhelming demand for tickets - the rush to buy tickets shows that GREASE must be everyone’s favourite party musical. So we’ve added additional weeks and performances so everyone can get to see this fantastic cast perform in one of the most loved musicals of all time.”
