ONE of the most popular American stories ever written comes to life in song and dance at Roleystone Theatre (WA) this December.

Roleystone is staging the WA premiere of Little Women – the Broadway musical version.

Directed by Paul Treasure, the timeless tale follows the story of four sisters growing up in Massachusetts while their father is away during the Civil War.

“It’s one of the world’s best-loved stories, as they grow from little girls to little women,” he said.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, the Stephen Sondheim Musical Comedy, set in Ancient Rome, promises to have Sunnybank (Queensland) audiences rolling in the aisles from November 11 to 26, 2011.

The first Broadway musical to feature both music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Forum has a book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, based on the classic Ancient Roman farces of Plautus, with a good serve of classic vaudeville on the side.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest plays at the Zenith Theatre Chatswood (NSW) from November 4 – 12, when epicentre theatre company presents the stage adaptation of the Oscar winning movie and Ken Kesey novel.

Upon arrival at a mental institution, a brash rebel McMurphy rallies the patients together to take on the oppressive Nurse Ratched, a woman more a dictator than a nurse.

The Hills Musical Society (NSW) will present Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, at the Don Moore Community Centre, Carlingford, for a strictly limited season from November 4, 2011.
