Avenue Q's Tough Streets for Sydney’s North

North Shore Theatre Company (NSTC) brings puppet musical comedy Avenue Q to The Independent Theatre, North Sydney from 26 April to 4 May.

Winner of the Tony Triple Crown for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book, Avenue Q tells the story of a recent college graduate trying to find his way in the world.

Dad and Dave On Stage in WA

STEELE Rudd’s classic Dad and Dave short stories are coming to the Roxy Lane Theatre during March 2019 in the stage production On Our Selection.

Presented by ARENAarts and directed by Peter Nettleton, the play was originally published in 1912 and has been described as Australia’s only successful folk comedy, performed hundreds of times in numerous countries.

“It’s told from the viewpoint of the original Aussie battlers – a family of pioneer subsistence farmers, their friends and acquaintances,” Nettleton said.

Superstar Set to Rock Miranda

A CONTEMPORARY adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice is sure to resonate with modern audiences, in light of today’s far-right extremist groups and recent anti-Semitic attacks in this production in March 2019

Presented by the Graduate Dramatic Society at UWA’s New Fortune Theatre, this version is set in 1938 and directed by Lucy Eyre.

The story follows Portia, heiress to a large fortune and forced into marriage by an unorthodox method, stipulated by her late father.

2018 CAT Awards

The Canberra Repertory Theatre and So Popera Productions from Wollongong were the big winners at the 2018 Canberra Area Theatre Awards.

Each won six CAT awards at the presentation night, held at the Australian National University’s Llewellyn Hall on February 23, 2019.

Judges travelled to 56 community theatres and schools to assess 86 productions from as far south as Eden to as far west as Dubbo.

A Bunch of Amateurs

The first production for Arts Theatre Cronulla for 2019 is A Bunch of Amateurs, a comedy by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman packed with comic dialogue and plenty of twists and turns.

Facing the loss of their community theatre, a local amateur dramatic group in the sleepy Suffolk village of Stratford St John decides that their only hope of ensuring vital sponsorship and attracting a large audience is to cast a celebrity in their final production, King Lear.

Enright On The Night at The Genesian

Sydney’s Genesian Theatre has announced an all-female cast for its forthcoming tribute to the late playwright and lyricist, Nick Enright – Enright On The Night.

Enright On The Night is devised by David Mitchell and Melvyn Morrow. The pair were actually introduced to each other by Enright and have devised the show especially for the Genesian Theatre, where Enright made his debut at the tender age of 21.
