Aussie Black Comedy After Dinner for Old Mill (WA).

IT’S a case of looking for love in just the one wrong place at Perth’s Old Mill Theatre this October.

Directed by Matt Longman, After Dinner sees five lonely singles head out to their local pub on a Friday night, determined to forget their nine-to-five routine.

Three female office workers are looking for a good night out and, nearby, two men are looking for the same – with different ideas.

Bye Bye Birdie for Ballarat

Shoot for the Moon Theatricals (Ballarat, Victoria), in conjunction with Curtain Call Performing Arts Studios present the energetic musical comedy Bye Bye Birdie on September 17 and 18. Featuring a local cast of 80, this musical boasts such songs as Put on a Happy Face, Kids and One Last Kiss.

The Boy From Oz First Show for New Willoughby Venue

Heildeberg Theatre Company (Vic) presents The 39 Steps, Patrick Barlow’s entertaining adaptation of the John Buchan / Alfred Hitchcock Espionage classic, from September 15 to October 1, 2011.

The 39 Steps follows the hilarious trials and tribulations of the wrongly accused Richard Hannay as he evades police and finds love while trying to foil the fiendish plot of a devilishly brilliant mastermind. On stage is a rollicking thriller-romance script with madcap vaudeville like comic routines and a delightful array of characters.

Miss Marple Whodunit for Limelight in WA

Things are not always what they seem – as evidenced in the September / October production at Limelight Theatre, Wanneroo (W.A.), with its puzzle of scattered clues, mixed motives and concealed identities.

Written by Agatha Christie and directed by Sue Mainwaring, A Murder Is Announced is set in an English country village house and features the famed amateur detective Miss Marple.

In A Murder Is Announced, a killing is advertised in the local paper with the location – and people turn up, waiting for the crime to unfold.
